Nov 15, 2019 · An eccentric shaft is only £600-£700 from BMW. I'm already half way there, I've already got the rocker cover off. I might as well do it. I'm just struggling to get the special tool that holds the unit in the vice to remove and fit the shaft. The cam timing tools are available on Ebay for £60 so that's no issue.

Nov 26, 2016 · Had my eccentric shaft sensor replaced along with valve cover and valve cover gasket. During the procedure, the shop noticed a tooth missing on the half moon gear on the eccentric shaft, where the Valvetronic worm gear attaches to. But they do not believe it will cause me problems, so they finished the job.

Feb 18, 2004 · My flywheel has a spot with 3-5 teeth that are damaged. About 1/4 of each of these teeth on the starter side of the flywheel gear is missing. Once every so many starts my starter will grind. It's a newish starter, and I assume the solonoid is in good condition, so I blame it on the damaged teeth.
