I am trying to configure TeXworks to run the following chains: latex with automatic dvi viewer opening; latex+dvips with automatic ps viewer opening; Essentially, I want to learn how to configure TeXworks to create my own chains of commands possibly with a long list of executables that are usable and commands used within TeXworks.

I am using TeXworks on Windows 7 and I want to use the algorithmic package. However, when I try to include it it just says I need to download that package, but I can't figure out how to download it (TeXworks asks if you want to download it automatically, but that doesn't seem to work, because nothing visible happens)

Restart TeXworks and it will appear in the "New File from Template" window. For the .sty file: navigate to C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.9\tex\latex . Copy the .sty file to a new folder.

Jan 27, 2017 · MiKTeX installs the TeXworks editor as standard. This has the ability to add/remove comments from multiple line (placing % at the start) using the shortcuts Ctrl+Shift+] (insert comment)/Ctrl+Shift+[(remove comment). The key binds can be customised (particularly useful if your keyboard makes these combinations inconvenient).

Jan 22, 2019 · Oddly enough, if I open up a new empty document, line numbers are displayed for the new document. However, there are no line numbers in my existing document. I have tried closing TexWorks, restarting it, and reopening my document. However, anytime I open my document instead of creating a new one, line numbers fail to display. Any thoughts?

Oct 10, 2017 · In TeXworks, choose Scripts --> Scripting TeXworks --> Reload scripts folder. If you now look in the Scripts-menu again, there should be an entry packageHelp (as in the image above). You need to allow scripts access to running system commands via Edit --> Preferences --> Scripting, checking the box for "Allow scripts to run system commands":

May 29, 2013 · The fact that TeXworks automatically opens a pdf if available, and automatically tiles the editing and previewing windows for me saves a lot of time! However, TeXworks, as a text editor, simply isn't as powerful as Vim (I much prefer the console version over Gvim).

Nov 25, 2020 · Turns out I had installed only TeXworks when what I meant to install was the whole MikTeX distribution. Like many casual users, I never interact with anything other than TeXworks, so after a system restore, that was the name I remembered and the only thing I installed. Downloading MikTeX from here and installing it solved the issue.
