Sep 18, 2014 · Tarzan of the books was a completely different animal than the Tarzan of the movies, so I imagine his gear preference would depend on the particular incarnation that one knows best. The monosyllabic, caterwauling, vine swinging, knife biting "me Tarzan, you Jane" character from the films would carry something dumb.

Jan 30, 2013 · I read many of the first dozen Tarzan books between eight and ten times. Burroughs definitely referred to the knife as a Bowie knife on numerous occasions. I recall the phrase "large American (or "American-made") Bowie knife" a number of times.

That looks like it in that article. I took some pictures of it on the Tarzan movie today on TIM. Not the best, but the handle looks correct.
