Aug 25, 2011 · What I found that works for me is to use cupcake liners that are 1 3/4" tall and 2 1/4" wide at the base. The standard cupcake liners are usually 1 1/4" tall and 2" wide at the base. My cupcake tins hold the 2" very easily but also seem to accommodate the 2 1/4" liners just fine if I just make sure to make sure they are sitting level before baking.

Apr 29, 2013 · You measure a cupcake liners size by the bottom of the pan X the height of the pan. You're measuring the wrong part of the pan! A "standard" cupcake is 2" on the bottom x 1.75" tall. To make a taller cupcake: most people use 1.75" tall liners for a standard cupcake. So look for liners that are 2" or more taller (the second number).

Jun 6, 2012 · I am using a cupcake pan that holds 3.8 oz of batter per cup. My cupcake liners are 1 1/2 x 2 " What are your cupcake sizes and what size are your liners? Someone on E-Bay was selling liners that were 2 x 1 3/4" tall saying that it was a sized used by commercial bakeries. Are there any cupcake liner brands you prefer over others ?

did the same method on the cupcake pans as is described on the tutorial for the cake pans--wrapped wax paper around the edges and overfilled the cupcake liners. Turned out pretty cute--made a great birthday gift! ((and a lot easier than the "tall cupcake" method using two cupcakes covered in fondant))

Someone gave a mini pan that they said is a professional pan and it has the straight sides you mention and the cupcakes don't have the taper. I love the pan but it is a little bigger than other mini pans I have seen. That is one of the reasons I search so much for cupcake liners.

I found one company that advertises a pan that is 3.5 oz. (mine regular pan is 2oz.) however the measurements are almost identical to mine.

Aug 12, 2013 · I bought cupcake liners from Ikea - they are skinnier and taller, to go with the pans that Ikea sells. I used a regular pan, and the cupcake came out bigger than normal, beautiful. So, for bigger cupcake, try to use bigger paper liners or pans.
