This TEAC A-450 is a stereo cassette deck with Dolby B noise reduction, it was first sold by TEAC in 1973 with a manufacturer suggested retail price of USD $500 and discontinued 3 years later in 1976.

It is equipped with a 3-stage bias / 3-stage equalizer switch to bring out the performance of the tape. In addition, the Chrome-tape playback equalizer improves the high-frequency SN ratio (4.5 dB at 10 kHz) by adopting a new standard (DIN 70 μ s).

Mar 17, 2025 · It works and sounds “fine” but obviously it’s still cassette. It has some hiss, rolled off highs, etc. I was thinking of doing a full recap, using film caps when possible, and also replacing all of the carbon resistors with 1% metal. Has anyone done this with good results?
