The T-84-120 Yatagan is a prototype model intended for export, mounting a 120 mm gun able to fire NATO-standard tank ammunition and anti-tank guided missiles. After the adoption of the T-80 tank, the Soviets began improving its design.

During the military parade for the Independence Day of Ukraine on August 24, 2018, Ukrainian armed forces has presented the T-84 Yatagan MBT (Main Battle Tank), a new upgraded version of the local-made T-84 fitted with a NATO standard 120mm cannon.

Jul 8, 2023 · T-84-120 Yatagan was developed in 2000 in Kharkiv to NATO standards for the Turkish tender for a new MBT. The tank featured a 120mm smooth bore gun that was capable of firing AT-11 Sniper ATGM's, a reloading mechanism and blow-out panels.

The Ukrainian Yatagan Main Battle Tank (previously known as Yatahan) is a further development of the Oplot MBT fitted with a NATO 120mm smoothbore gun fed by a bustle-mounted automatic loader. It was first marketed for the Turkish field trials for a new MBT.

The export-oriented T-84-120 "Oplot" has an improved turret mount with a NATO standard 120mm main gun and a new autoloader. Side armor skirts are standard.
