Jan 20, 2019 · The iMac will misread the processor speed and will tell you the system is running an 800Mhz CPU, due to it not recognising the processor, however it will run normally. The exceptions to this are the extreme chips from this generation: X9***.

Dec 25, 2019 · Upgraded my mid-2007 iMac to the latest version of macOS. 13 years and still kicking as my daily driver. I achieved this with a CPU swap (upgraded from Core 2 Duo T7700 to T9500) and a fresh 250gb SSD. The CPU swap allows the Mac to run SSE 4.1 instructions for OS'es newer than El Capitan.
