Development of the T-50 began in the late 1990s, and its maiden flight occurred in 2002. It entered active service with the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) in 2005. The T-50 has been further developed into aerobatic and combat variants, namely T-50B, TA-50, and FA-50.

T-50, the advanced supersonic jet trainer, is Korea’s first homegrown aircraft to train the next-generation fighter pilots. T-50 and T-50 derivative series such as FA-50 Fighter Jet, TA-50 LIFT(Lead-In Fighter Trainer) and T-50B acrobatic demonstrator are being operated in ROKAF.

Jun 18, 2012 · The T-50 Golden Eagle, formerly known as the KTX-2, jet trainer and light attack aircraft was built for the Republic of Korea Air Force (RoKAF). The aircraft was developed in the T-50A advanced trainer and T-50B lead in fighter trainer versions. The T-50 LIFT is called the A-50 by the RoKAF.

May 3, 2023 · Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) collaborated with Lockheed Martin to develop the advanced trainer known the T-50 Golden Eagle. Following its development, the aircraft was intended to replace any aged models still active with the ROKAF, such as the Northrop T-38 Talon and Cessna A-37 Dragonfly.

Sep 15, 2007 · After passing a screening test with the T-103 (ROKAF version of the Ilyushin IL-103), ROKAF students are to be trained only with two trainers—the KT-1 and the T-50. Reducing the number of aircraft used in a training fleet simplifies logistics and support and lowers cost.
