Durante sua passagem pelas fileiras da FAB, os 76 Zarapa, como os pilotos comumente denominavam as aeronaves T-23, ajudaram a formar milhares de pilotos e, oficialmente, deixaram o serviço ativo em 1º de junho de 1984.

When first conceived in the late 1970s, the Type 23 was intended to be a light anti-submarine frigate with a towed array sonar to counter Soviet nuclear submarines operating in the North Atlantic.

Os dois primeiros exemplares de produção pré série voaram entre janeiro e abril de 1968, recebendo a denominação de Aerotec T-23 pela Força Aérea Brasileira.

The very last T-23 Uirapuru operated by the Bolivian air force was FAB-183, seen here at its homebase El Trompillo where it was flown by Grupo Aéreo de Entrenamiento 21, part of the Colegio Militar de Aviación (COLMILAV).

The T23 was propelled by a gasoline Ford GAP V8 engine, mated to an electric power unit which drove two traction motors, then connected to the transmission. No direct link was present between the main power unit and the gearbox, increasing their service life and allowing for much smoother gear changes on uneven grounds.

The medium tank T20, medium tank T22 and medium tank T23 were prototype medium tanks, developed by the United States Army during World War II. They were designed as successors to the M4 Sherman. The standard main weapon for production versions of these designs was to be the 76 mm gun M1.
