Jun 29, 2018 · What you need to do is to check for 24VAC at the coil terminals (usually on the side of the contactor) when the thermostat is calling for cooling. I'm guessing that you'll find that you don't have 24VAC present (that's what activates the contactor/relay to turn on the outside unit). The 24VAC comes from the house & thermostat.

Aug 1, 2018 · It looks to me like L1-T1 is the side that is closed on the old contactor and L3-T3 is switched, whereas on the new contactor L2-T2 is closed and L1-T1 is switched. I read elsewhere on this forum that the polarity of the low voltage wires doesn't matter.
