Nov 22, 2022 · Cult Canadian metallers SWORD are back! But does new album, III, their first release in 34 years, re-capture old glories?

Released in 2022, III is the third full-length album (naturally) from Montreal’s Sword. Their previous album came out 34 years earlier, which has to be some kind of record. Incredibly, all four original band members were up for the reunion and this album.

Lo and behold, 2022 sees the arrival of III and the band sounds as though they haven't missed a beat. The music on III is in line with their earlier works, perhaps less doomy, and full of '80s-style, unpretentious heavy metal. Clear vocals, crunchy riffs and some nice leads are woven throughout the album and while none of the songs here ...

Nov 24, 2022 · Hearing the eight songs on ‘III’, it is like time stood still all those years. It is a logic continuation of ‘Metalized’ and ‘Sweet Dreams’. Mike Plant sounds impressive, the rhythm section is as intensive as can be and Rick Hughes has not lost anything of his huge range and power.
