Here is an alternative command that is shorter and installs lesser packages but brings in the lxde desktop.

Oct 21, 2010 · For OS 11.3 you can do this. From a terminal add the LXDE repository as root: Start Yast > Software Management > Patterns (tab) > check the box for Lightweight Desktop Pattern > Accept. It may ask for additional package install, say OK.

Oct 25, 2023 · Open Suse 11.1 was released 18 Dec 2008. The current version is 15.5 released 7 Jun 2023. While it does not appear that 11.1 has reached EOL, the lxde is no longer on their servers. Suggest that you seek assistance on the OpenSuse forums.

Sep 27, 2012 · With opensuse, XFCE will start with the panel at the bottom. And no, LXDE does not seem KDE-like in my opinion. I was able to do more tweaking with XFCE (compared to LXDE) to get things the way that I like.
