Jan 8, 2009 · The holes start at the very bottom of the side, spaced about 3" apart all the way around the circumferance of the "bucket". This pattern is repeated up the side of the "bucket" about every 3" up, and stops at about 6" from the top. Holes are 3/8" diameter. Basically a grid of 3/8" holes covering the side walls of the bucket.

Now, I run the pump out of a bucket of clear water, not in the sump, so there’s no tile dust and crud running through it. I went to the tile store to get a new pump and they want over $60 for a new pump.

The engineer had me put a permeable membrane called mirafi over the soil and a 6 inch compacted rock layer of "one inch cracked rock with no fines" on top of that to provide drainage for water that gets near the slab or foundation wall.
