Jan 31, 2023 · The H6 is a lot more robust than the 2.5, probably what your mechanic was thinking of, as the 2.5 often had the head gaskets go at 115k miles. I’ll second the other comment about age.

Aug 25, 2023 · My 04' H6 was the BEST subaru I've ever owned at just being a great car. We've had more fun cars, but the H6 was good. We bought it at 227k and I reluctantly sold it at 297k. In that time I did valve cover gaskets, and the coolant hard lines on the motor for piece of mind.
