Mar 23, 2019 · I'm using the following hardware config: SMSL SU-9 + DA-9 + SH-9 , along with the SMSL-provided driver ver. 5.70, the speakers are Monitor Audio Bronze 2, the headset is Audioquest NightOwl. For media management and playing I use JRiver Media Center in its last version (currently 30.0.55) on Windows 11 Pro.

Oct 14, 2022 · SMSL never release firmware update for their pure DACs. And my SU-9 Pro can't be identified by macOS (both Monterey and Ventura) but works fine with windows 10 and ubuntu 22.04, it's weird. Contacted SMSL customer services for replace or return.

Feb 13, 2019 · The SU-9s best feature for me is the improved sense of space and soundstage. It's certainly opened up and put individual instruments out there on a larger stage. I'm using a Wyred4Sound preamp so your mileage may vary, but I'm very happy with the SU-9. That said, I still have a lot of respect for the s2, but the SU-9 is certainly an upgrade for me.

Jan 5, 2020 · This looks solid. I am about as happy with my SU 9 as anything I've ever purchased. I use it for a pre-amp as well as source switcher and it pairs nicely with the balanced AO200. One standout for the SU 9 series is the excellent Bluetooth support - I find overall this DAC is a great value for the money.

Dec 7, 2019 · Hmm, what's the main/major differences between su-8 and su-9? Bluetooth and MQA support while the DAC chip is the same? The difference in price between Topping D90 MQA and SMSL SU-9 is more interesting and surprisingly big right now I would say ($360...). The Topping D90 MQA has to be really good for justifying this difference.

Jan 11, 2023 · I think the SU-9 pro was their first foray into the new ES9039pro chip, and it was offered as a “mid-priced” option to their existing line at the time as it lacks I2S, AES or other fancy connectors. This new D400 ES/EX line is just a refresh of their TOTL DACs with the latest flagship offerings from AKM and ESS.

Jul 21, 2022 · There's no firmware update for the SU-9: View attachment 219503 There is a USB driver to unlock the native ASIO interface and stuff, but that's not something you "upload to the USB connected SU-9". It's something you install on your PC.
