Feb 1, 2014 · Steyr M is the medium action of the 1968 design, which came out in 1969 as the SSG 69 in the shorter action, the L, in 7.62x51mm NATO. The full line of SL, L, M, and S began coming out in 1972. This is an elegant rifle, an improvement of the open action M-1950, 1952 and 1956, which are also elegant versions of the 1903 action.

Apr 26, 2014 · The Steyr Model M is the long action. S is magnum, L is short action ( .308 ), and SL was .223 size. They came in several variations from about 1972 until the SBS in 1996. The M, S, L was more expensive to make in some ways. It is lighter than the SBS ( current action ).

Oct 1, 2013 · The Steyr SSG and Model M Professional were the first synthetic stocked rifles sold by a major manufacturer. Cycolac is a form of ABS, and is very stable. It is used to make plastic instruments, like levels for carpentry. I still have a perfectly good Sears Craftsman level in Cycolac, purchased in 1974.

May 27, 2021 · Just purchased myself a Steyr Mannlicher Model M 7x64 in outstanding condition. Rifle has what looks to be the original rings on it (rotary QD type)? but they are 1inch and my scope is a 30mm tube. Its going to be 3-6 months before supplier has any in stock. Is there a Warne base or Leupold base that will work with these rifles?
