They were incredibly cheap to make, easy to operate and maintain, and they can spray a lot of bullets. Thompson's were too expensive and time consuming to build, so this was the commonwealth alternative.

May 14, 2009 · They used 1/8 inch rivets to help retain the front and rear barrel supports for the MkIII Sten. Like you said, they were soldered in. The supports were pressed into the body, with the barrel sandwiched between them.
