Jun 26, 2013 · What Gauge of Steel should I use for the FireBox? I will be constructing a warming chamber atop the FireBox as well, using the same gauge of steel. FireBox and warming chamber will both be insulated, so I will also need suggestion on insulating material. Thanks!

Oct 11, 2010 · Guys, I'm in the process of building a reverse flow w/ a square firebox. Will 3/16" plate still work for the firebox or should I go with 1/4"? Also what about the thermal plate, what is the sugguested steel thickness for it? Thanks Kenny

But the less-than-optimal insulation of the firebox plays a big role. The third photo is a piece of Zircar RS-1200 material shaped and ready to install. Weight is 4 lbs.

It had two intake grills on the sides with internal fans. The air was forced through and around the metal firebox and out another vent over the lintel. The air coming out of the top vent was extremely hot.

Sep 30, 2023 · We have a three flue chimney with one flue decommissioned that was used for a broiler, the middle flue that has a rotted steel firebox fireplace, and the third flue is a wood stove in the basement. Nothing is in use currently. I would really like to install a wood stove insert or repair the firebox in the fireplace and am considering my options.

Dec 23, 2023 · The main issue will remain, tho…the poor design decisions of companies like Panadero to use 4mm plate steel for firebox and baffle material with insufficient support mean consumers can expect deformed steel with any temperature fire. IMO, regulations should govern these designs of such potentially dangerous appliances.

Jul 12, 2006 · There are a lot of people looking for parlor stoves, box stoves, etc. The styles of the past had a neat look. Too bad they couldn't meet EPA regulations. These stoves could exist again though. A modern firebox could be clad in cast iron to give it the character people want.
