Apr 20, 2021 · On my stata 16.1 MP8 my data with 44.7 Million obs used to take 30 seconds to sort, now on stata 17 MP8 it is taking 16.1 seconds to sort. I also ran few other commands where I manipulate the data. Stata 16.1 used to take 8 minutes to complete that task now Stata 17 takes 3 minutes to complete similar tasks.

Feb 14, 2022 · Now that Stata is up to date, you should be able to use the Java installation included with Stata. As an alternative, you can point Stata to another Java installation as Tarun Choudhary suggests in post #17. However, we are not currently recommending JDK 17 with Stata as it has not yet been fully certified with Stata.

If your boss wants you to use Stata, perhaps they can buy you a license — a single user license is pretty reasonable IMO. At the risk of spurring controversy, R is free.

Apr 25, 2023 · In Stata 17, we weren't updating the interface when the Data Editor was filtering so if you had a lot of observations, it might not have been obvious Stata was busy while filtering. In Stata 18, we changed the behavior so that Stata would periodically update the interface to show that it's busy while filtering.

Oct 15, 2021 · If you are running version 17, 16 or a fully updated version 15.1 or 14.2, -dataex- is already part of your official Stata installation. If not, run -ssc install dataex- to get it. Either way, run -help dataex- to read the simple instructions for using it. -dataex- will save you time; it is easier and quicker than typing out tables.

Jul 5, 2019 · In case anyone is still dealing with the issue, the key on a Mac is that, to make all the windows dark, in addition to changing the style to Dark Mode within Stata's preferences (General, Results, Viewer), you need to also set the Mac OS to Dark Mode. Reference
