Stain is a very neutral character since he was born between Nightmare's and Ink's power. Like Ink, Stain is afraid of dark and confined spaces also known as claustrophobia. Negativity makes Stain's strength grow since Stain's soul is a negative apple.

Stain is the child of Nightmare and Ink, though it is barely worth calling him their "child". Stain was born when Nightmare's corruption was sheared off by one of Dreams arrows, and Ink's paint was shattered over top of it.

Understain was a genocide route where instead of turning to dust, everyone would turn to sand. When Frisk found this universe, they knew the sand part was just a small glitch and it was of no importance. But to Sans, it was an opportunity. In this universe, Sans decided to stay away from frisk. Instead, he followed her from behind.
