Sep 11, 2021 · Blackchurch Rock is a large sea stack around 60 feet high (18 metres). Erosion has caused two arches to be formed. At high tide it is surrounded by water and I choose my visit to coincide with low tide, so I could walk out and photograph the stack with both arches visible.

Stacks are easy to recognise because they stand alone, no longer attached to the cliffs. At high tide they will usually be tall rocks rising from the sea just off the shore, though at low tide you may be able to walk out to them across the beach.
