Southern Pacific GP40P-2 Info Page - Railfan
The three SP GP40P-2's were bought in 1974, for commute service between San Francisco and San Jose. They were delivered with almost every EMD and Espee option except the Tunnel Motor radiator, and even this was considered, though weight restrictions put a stop to that.

Southern Pacific GP40-2's pull a string of 122 empty taconite hoppers into Provo from Geneva Steel to be cleaned and reused for back hauling coal. At this date the train is technically a Union Pacific train. Southern Pacific's Geneva Turn.
