The Split Soul Katana (釈 しゃく 魂刀 こんとう Shakukontō?) was a cursed tool used by Toji Fushiguro. Maki Zenin wields an exact replica created by Mai Zenin. It is a katana that bypasses all resistance and cuts directly at the soul.

Slice your opponent then follow up with another slice sending them into the air. Hits two times. This weapon is based upon Toji Fushiguro's blade of the same name and look. In the anime, it is a blade meant to be able to hurt the soul directly. This weapon is later used by Maki Zen'in.

Perhaps, as far as it was shown the soul split katana (replica) ignores the targets physical durability and cuts right into the soul, perfect against Mahito (LOL), but the user needs to be able to "see the souls of inorganic matter".
