It's serviceable in that nothing gets in the way and you can play through the game without issues that occurred at launch, but the lighting is still subpar, animations are delayed for one level intro, and the sound balancing is incredibly bad for one addition to the sfx, with no way to fix it.

You can see this in the level designs, some of which are taken directly from Sonic 1 (Game Land maps), and in the Saturday morning cartoon-styled script (which seems to be the main reason why this game is derided as of late).

Feels very different to any other sonic game in moment to moment gameplay. I think it's a big step behind Unleashed + DLC and modern Gens, but much better than what I played of Forces.
