Soldered strings cause a 40% loss in toan and 82% loss of mojo. Have you tried boiling them in dead sea water with a bay leaf and a spoonful of lemon oil? Yay. I use Ernie Ball RPS strings for rounds that have reinforced ball ends and for flats I add solder to D’addario Chromes. They’re not moving at all even with heavy vibrato use.

Sep 24, 1999 · I do not (solder, weld, splice or tin) strings when they break. Should one break, a new one goes back onto the guitar. I use a small low watt iron with small tip and only tin close to the ball which keeps it off the changer.
