Mar 8, 2023 · SMuFF: not that widely adopted, lacks any significant feature to justify the poorer design. Palette 3: in my experience, the limit is the software. Hardware (on v3/pro) works fine. The cost though is not insignificant. It depends on your needs. Works (mostly) out of the box, don't want to fiddle too much with assembly and wiring? Palette 3.

Jan 1, 2024 · I don’t think ERCF or SMuFF will work on Marlin, so without changing your Firmware to Klipper, neither will work, regardless of your extruder setup. If your stepper drivers support sensorless homing / stallguard, you don’t need to modify your extruder. If they don’t, you need a filament sensor in the toolhead.

Dec 22, 2022 · I know nothing about smuff, but I've spent the past few days fiddling with the 3d chameleon. Honestly I can't recommend it, not right now. The hardware is astonishingly simple, it's a small button connected to servos that control the filament flow. You mount the button where the 3d printer can hit it by moving axes with custom gcode.
