I play a lot of games on it. Depending upon which video card you have, you need an updated mesa, kernel, and vulkan for AMD. I've been on slackware-current, and aside from some 3rd party breaking, I haven't had much of an issue. That having been said, sometimes things need rebuilding, and it's a testing release.

Once, (the first time on the vm) and after struggling to get Slackware to reboot after setup, I downloaded a brand new ISO and wiped the previous install and installed Slackware for a second time, with the latest current to fix my hyper-v initrd problem.

May 3, 2004 · Slackware is an intermediate level distro; I used it for several years cut my teeth on it so to speak. Gentoo is my main OS now with over 200 devs working on it instead of 2 or 3 gives it a big edge, the documentation is great, runs way faster than Slackware.

Dec 28, 2023 · Curious if anyone knows or has a guess whether Slackware ARM 32-bit or upcoming aarch64 is likely to run in VM's under these virtual environments on M1 Macs. It's been fun running Slackware ARM on Raspberry Pi's but would be nice to be able to run Slackware ARM on higher performance hardware.

It is up to the administrator to resolve the Slackware package dependencies. Most of the other distros resolve the dependencies automatically. 3. Slackware is easy to install and reasonably difficult to maintain.

Aug 15, 2020 · Their store (Microsoft) does not contain an example for Slackware, any of the three, (that I know of) for 64 bit, for example, I saw on the FTP site, 13.37 and 14.1 and 14.2, for a while I ran 14.2 on another laptop. What I'd like to do is create a WSL capable image of Slackware 14.2 for 64 bit. But, ah, I'm at my usual wit's end there.

May 9, 2016 · In my situation, I don't need the slackware tree on the thumb drive--just need to boot and chroot. So I downloaded the dd-0.6beta3.zip, and instead of extracting into some kind of windows installer that asks to be allowed to modify the system, it just unzipped into a folder containing two text files and dd.exe.
