Jan 11, 2016 · To many skimmer companies will just build a skimmer out of standard acrylic sizes and standard pumps without any thought to design. This is the problem with allot of cheaper skimmers. Do not think all skimmers are the same with the same pump. Engineering makes a difference because balance is what makes a skimmer great.

May 15, 2018 · Could also wait a few days til tank start cycling so Skimmer has some sludge to skim. I waited two weeks on all 5 of my tanks to even run skimmers. I as the last guy said, would put collection cup and lid back on and pull the plug. Gonna create some air bubbles in ur tank for a couple days but will be fine.

Feb 18, 2024 · The skimmer you picked out is a single-pass non-recirculating needle-wheel skimmer, which is pretty standard nowadays. Also, if I can be honest, it's pretty useless for removing a lot of stuff. There is not enough contact and dwell time to bond stuff to the bubbles.

Nov 27, 2019 · I have a 3 month-old biocube 29. I have a Tunze 9001 skimmer & InTank Media basket in Chamber 2. It is kind of backward because water flows from Chamber 1 to the Intank Media basket which has a floss filter, then a bag of Phosguard, then a bag of AC w/ resin, then to the Tunze 9001.
