Sirtuin 7 - Wikipedia
NAD-dependent deacetylase sirtuin 7 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the SIRT7 gene. [5][6][7] SIRT7 is member of the mammalian sirtuin family of proteins, which are homologs to the yeast Sir2 protein. SIRT7 facilitates the transcription of DNA by RNA polymerase I, RNA polymerase II, and RNA polymerase III. [8]
SIRT7 Gene - GeneCards | SIR7 Protein | SIR7 Antibody
Mar 30, 2025 · SIRT7 (Sirtuin 7) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with SIRT7 include Prostate Cancer and Lysosomal Storage Disease. Among its related pathways are NAD metabolism and p53 Signaling. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include chromatin binding and histone H3K18 deacetylase activity, NAD-dependent.
The seven faces of SIRT7 - PMC
The seven mammalian sirtuins (SIRT1–7) share a conserved catalytic core domain (HDAC domain) with varying N- and C-terminal sequences. They localize to different cellular compartments, use NAD + as a co-factor and serve functions in multiple cellular processes. SIRT7 promotes pre-rRNA transcription and processing
SIRT7 is a histone desuccinylase that functionally links to …
Jul 20, 2016 · Here we report that SIRT7 is an NAD + -dependent histone desuccinylase. We show that SIRT7 is recruited to DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) in a PARP1-dependent manner and catalyses...
SIRT7: the seventh key to unlocking the mystery of aging
Jan 1, 2024 · SIRT7, the most recently identified member of the SIRTs, maintains physiological homeostasis and provides protection against aging by functioning as a watchdog of genomic integrity, a dynamic sensor and modulator of stresses.
Structural basis of SIRT7 nucleosome engagement and substrate ...
Feb 4, 2025 · We show that the SIRT7 N-terminus represents a unique, extended nucleosome-binding domain, reaching across the nucleosomal surface to the acidic patch. The catalytic domain binds at the H3-tail...
Advances in Cellular Characterization of the Sirtuin Isoform, SIRT7
SIRT7 is one of seven mammalian sirtuins that functions as an NAD+-dependent histone/protein deacetylase. SIRT7 is the least well-known member of the sirtuin family, but recent efforts have identified its involvement in various cellular processes, ...
SIRT7: a novel molecular target for personalized cancer …
Feb 21, 2024 · SIRT7 distinguishes itself as the exclusive mammalian Sirtuin primarily localized within the nucleolus, a crucial organelle involved in ribosome biogenesis. In this compartment, SIRT7...
SIRT7: a sentinel of genome stability - PMC
SIRT7 seems to have a critical role in this response, and it is recruited to sites of DNA damage where it recruits downstream repair factors and directs chromatin regulation. In this review, we provide an overview of the role of SIRT7 in DNA repair and maintaining genome stability.
SIRT7 is a histone desuccinylase that functionally links to …
Jul 20, 2016 · We demonstrate that depletion of SIRT7 impairs chromatin compaction during DNA-damage response and sensitizes cells to genotoxic stresses. Our study indicates SIRT7 is a histone desuccinylase, providing a molecular basis for the understanding of epigenetic regulation by this sirtuin protein.
