Jul 5, 2022 · On 24 August 2021, a woman worker and union member – Ma Khin Thandar Moe – was arrested at the factory by the military, after publishing a Facebook post in which she stated her support for the interim National Unity Government.

In July 2022, it was reported that the Sioen Myanmar factory had told the military to arrest union leaders and dismissed 136 workers without reason. In September 2022, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Sioen Industries to respond.
