Aug 26, 2016 · Technically, one silo is enough, if you have a chicken coop. You can pull out all the hay, and toss it in a storage chest, then cut more grass and it'll go to the silo. I did this my first playthrough, accumulating like 600 hay.

Jan 16, 2022 · If the barn and coop are full you'll need enough space to store enough fodder for them over winter, which is about one silo per building. That is unless you manage to pull hay out of a silo and store it in a chest. The silos can be anywhere on the farm, they don't need to be next to the animal buildings.

Mar 16, 2016 · You need the silo in order to harvest hay when using a scythe on grass. It'll automatically get stored in the silo and won't go into your inventory. However, be warned that once the silo is full you'll stop getting hay altogether when you use the scythe on the grass.

Nov 19, 2022 · Silos don't need to attach to a building. Place 1 anywhere and all barns and coops have access to it. It will work for 2 buildings at once, but if those barns or coops are full then you might run out of animal feed real quick with just one silo. I like to have at least 2-3 for over winter.
