Females seem to mate only with the dominant male. For about a month after birth, infant sifakas hold on to their mothers’ bellies, eventually graduating to riding on their backs.

The goals of this study were to determine 1) if males and females exhibit sex differences in their scent-marking behavior, and 2) if scent-marking is an example of mating conflict or cooperation.

The Coquerel's sifaka mating season occurs very briefly, starting in January and ending in February or March. Adult Coquerel's sifakas can live up to thirty years, and they reach sexual maturity once they are two years old.
