
Shrew - Liberating Histories
Shrew was an influential feminist magazine of the early years of the British women’s liberation movement (Bouchier 1983, 58). It acted as the outward-facing publication of the London Women’s Liberation Workshop – the umbrella organisation that co-ordinated small women’s groups across London, formed in 1969.

The June 1971 issue of ‘Shrew’ published interviews with a sample of housewives that suggested many women were unaffected by feminist literature and indeed by the Women’s Liberation Movement as a whole.

The Women’s Liberation Movement and the Rise of Matriarchy
Jun 12, 2020 · In 1977, the London Matriarchy Study Group produced a special issue of the British WLM Shrew magazine, which they titled Goddess Shrew. A small notice regarding its publication was printed in The Guardian, with Long’s address, who received more than 500 letters from women over the following fortnight asking for copies of the issue.
