Shap Summit refers to three different route summits in close proximity, of the A6 road, M6 motorway and the highest point of the West Coast Main Line railway in England, near to the Cumbria village of Shap in North West England, crossing the hills of the Lake District.

The section of the M6 that runs over Shap Fell in Cumbria at Shap Summit is 1,036 ft (316 m) above sea level, one of the highest points on any motorway in the UK (Junction 22 of the M62 on Moss Moor is higher).

Shap is easily accessible from the M6 motorway if you are driving ,simply take junction 39 and follow the signs, on the A6 Shap is 16 miles north of Kendal and 10 miles south of Penrith .
