Evidence to support this theory is that Shadow's quills resemble Super/Hyper Sonic's, which ks depicted in that mural.

Jul 26, 2022 · Gerald was for certain researching Echidna ruins on Angel Island, so it isn't farfetched to believe that he came across Hidden Palace Zone's mural or Hydrocity's statues, and decided to base his next attempt on Project Shadow on it.

For Shadow, in Sonic 3&K there is a mural that shows a Hedgehog fighting an Eggman looking creature. The Hedgehog even has the curled up qills that Shadow has. The Biolizard on the other hand could be based on the mural of Perfect Chaos found in SA1.

From Sonic Battles we know that Gerald Robotnik has studied ancient civilisation, the Chaos 0 like creatures on the Ark are another proof of that.

Its the theory that both the Biolizard and Shadow are based on the murals from Angel Island, with Biolizard being based on the Perfect Chaos mural from Adventure and Shadow being based on the Super Sonic vs. Eggman's doomsday zone mech mural from S3&K.
