Sempron has been the marketing name used by AMD for several different budget desktop CPUs, using several different technologies and CPU socket formats. The Sempron replaced the AMD Duron processor and competed against Intel's Celeron series of processors.

The Sempron is a name used for AMD's low-end CPUs, replacing the Duron processor. The name was introduced in 2004, and processors with this name continued to be available for the FM2/FM2+ socket in 2015.

Sempron 140 is the first single-core microprocessor and the first Sempron-branded processor based on the K10 microarchitecture. With 2.7 GHz clock frequency and large 1 MB level 2 cache, this processor leaves far behind all other K8-based Sempron CPUs.

The AMD Sempron 3850 was a desktop processor with 4 cores, launched in April 2014. It is part of the Sempron lineup, using the Kabini architecture with Socket AM1. Sempron 3850 has 2 MB of L2 cache and operates at 1300 MHz.
