Aug 13, 2018 · Contemporary artist Sean Samoheyl is a master at improv. Sean “Purl” Samoheyl, 43, has always wanted to be an artist. In his 20s, he lived in Chicago producing art influenced by skateboarding and graffiti; art school was out of the question.

He began to draw in a new way due in part to the uncertainty of where anything was headed and the futility even that art had taken on. Now he runs an antique shop called Total Nonsequitur , which is partly where various patterns and palettes in the book originate.

Sean Samoheyl has been producing a lot of "self-taught" art at Twin Oaks: sculpture, painting, fiber, dolls, etc. His personal website has been improved recently and he's been showing/selling his amazing creations in a number of live and online venues.

Sean “Purl” Samoheyl currently lives and works in Twin Oaks, an intentional ecovillage in Louisa County, Virginia. Samoheyl has exhibited several times at ADA Gallery over the past 12 years. Samoheyl is a Virginia Folklife fellow and will begin a fellowship at the Winterthur Museum in Delaware this summer.
