Myanmar hosted 5th SEAP Games in 1969 for the second time. After that, due to political reasons, Myanmar was no longer hosted the games. However, sport delegations were sent annually. After 44 years later, Myanmar hosted again the 27th SEA Games in 2013.

The games were held from 11 to 22 December 2013. It was the third time for Myanmar in hosting the Southeast Asian Games. The country hosted the Games in 1961 and 1969 respectively in Yangon, then capital of the country.

Myanmar participated at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 5 to 17 May 2023. Myanmar Olympic Committee sent 341 athletes to compete in 19 sports. Myanmar delegation included totally 500 with 341 athletes and 159 officials. [1]
