Mar 30, 2017 · Scout bees or foragers that just smelled the LGO, that is the question. An observation from a trap where I caught a swarm, scout bees to me are really working hard checking out the potential new home, they go in and out, fly around the trap but bees just checking out the LGO sprayed on the entrance just land on the entrance and check out the LGO.

Example: recently, I have noticed what appear to be large numbers of scout bees checking out our swarm traps, then, within a day or two, sure enough, a swarm moves right in.:applause: Is the presence of 50+ scout bees a hint/sign that a swarm is soon to move in?

Nov 29, 2024 · That’s awesome you’re seeing scout bees checking out your hive! Leaving some comb in there is definitely a good start—it makes the hive more attractive to a swarm. Adding a bit of lemongrass oil is a great idea too, just a small drop or two near the entrance works wonders since it mimics the pheromone of a queen bee.

Yesterday I noticed 100-200 bees or so checking out the hive. Today there are more bees. Apr 25, 2022 · Hey Ya'll! I started having scout bees show up at 3 of my swarm traps a day or two ago. At first their where 10 or more at a least one of them, but throughout the heat of the day there probably is 3-5 or so at a time. How long will they keep this up before a swarm comes? What are the signs (number of scouts, etc.) before a swarm comes to your trap? I appreciate it! Thanks! Keep Buzzing, BEEJ
