From literature a number of approaches can be found, the Camp approach for sedimentation tanks and the Shields and Hjulstrøm approaches for erosion in rivers. In general erosion is defined as the pickup of particles because of the flow of water above the particles.
Nitrogen conversion was inves-tigated by turning the air scouring on/off in the anaerobic and anoxic tanks in situ, and batch tests were conducted for further validation. The role of air scouring in the anaerobic and anoxic tanks and the underlying causative factors are discussed.
Role of air scouring in anaerobic/anoxic tanks providing nitrogen ...
May 26, 2021 · Robust nitritation, and anammox on the carriers, can occur at low dissolved oxygen conditions in anaerobic/anoxic tanks with air scouring. Anammox can function well with conventional nitrification and denitrification process at mainstream conditions for …
Air Scour - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics
The plant is operated at an MLSS concentration of around 10 g/L in the aerobic tank, 12 in the membrane tank, and at a net flux of around 20 LMH – somewhat higher than its design flux of 15.7 LMH – based on a cycle of 9 min filtration and 1 min relaxation.
Experimental, Numerical and Field Approaches to Scour …
Jun 19, 2020 · Scour, which represents a fascinating and complex engineering problem involving a number of physical mechanisms and interactions, has motivated a vast amount of research following different but complementary methodological approaches such as experimental, numerical, and field methods.
Sediment resuspension and scouring at the bottom of industrial tanks is used widely for mixing, filtration, heat generating sedi-ment flows and reservoir scouring.
Scour is one of the major causes of failure for stream and river projects. It is important to adequately as-sess and predict scour for any stream or river design.
Scour is the removal by hydrodynamic forces of granular bed material in the vicinity of Coastal Structures. Note: Scour is a specific form of the more general term "erosion." Scour occurs …
Role of air scouring in anaerobic/anoxic tanks providing nitrogen ...
May 26, 2021 · Here, we show that microaerophilic conditions resulting from air scouring needed for biofilm carrier suspension in the anaerobic/anoxic zones can support a robust nitritation/anammox process.
Scour in the North Sea (Journal Article) | OSTI.GOV
Scour or seabed erosion around drilling and production platform legs and pipelines in the North Sea can be a major environmental problem because of the combination of shallow water depths, fast tidal currents, and mobile sand waves and banks.
