Dec 16, 2023 · Sci-Hub is generally working but we don't know what domain or DOI you're looking for so it's hard to say anything about the issue you're describing. If you're looking for content published in the last year or two, Sci-Hub is useless and a Nexus bot is a must.

Sci-hub is a website created and maintained by a Russian neuroscientist that provides illegal access to an estimated 85% of the world's academic papers. On the one hand, sci-hub is blatantly illegal - it provides paywalled material for free and costs publishing companies millions of dollars in stolen content.

Apr 7, 2017 · Sci-Hub is not a repository of user-uploaded material. See e.g. this explanation - it uses institutional usernames and passwords to obtain the material. When you request a paper, if it's not already in the repository, Sci-Hub uses someone else's institutional access to get the paper. How Sci-Hub got those usernames and passwords is unknown.
