Dec 26, 2014 · I don't know if you would consider it a hand tool or not but a weed trimmer fitted with a saw blade (picture a blade kind of like a circular saw would have) makes short work of briars and vines, start high and work down in kind of a figure 8 motion keeps you from getting entangled/scratched up and leaves a nice wide relatively clean trail, I have a Stihl and have used it a whole bunch around ...

Feb 3, 2017 · The best thing I ever found for this task was a gas powered hedge trimmer. It would eat through pencil-thick saw briars without hesitation. Sadly, my hedge trimmer died and a new one is not in the budget at this time. So... what say you blade wielding folks? How do you go about clearing sawbriar (green briar)?

Aug 12, 2019 · Yaupon thickets can be really dense and tough to get through as well, especially with saw briars growing with them.....but usually not too painful. Here in NC, thick rhododendron is common and can be a beast to climb through....often referred to as “rhodo hell”. The way it grows is almost sideways and requires a lot of effort to travel in.

Jan 17, 2025 · I use this saw with good results. I use an .25" 6tpi Olson blade, linked below, to cut basswood and it works quite well. I found this counter-intuitive but, through a lot of reading, is softer materials need a lower teeth-per-inch count in order to more easily clear sawdust.

10" (or so) saw folding saw with replacement blades?
Jan 3, 2025 · With that said, I'm shopping for a larger folding saw with maybe a 10" to 14" blade, as razor sharp as the Corona. I don't want to buy another Corona now if they are going to charge so much for replacement blades. Anybody have a larger folding saw they recommend with reasonably priced replacement blades?
