Shao, also known as General Shao but more commonly known as Shao Kahn, is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. A powerful tyrant of the Outworld throne, he is one of the most celebrated villains in not only the fighting game genre, but the video game genre as a whole.

Shao Kahn is a fictional character and one of the main antagonists of the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise by Midway Games and NetherRealm Studios. Depicted as emperor of the fictional realm Outworld, he is one of the franchise's primary villains.

Upon assuming the emperor's throne, Shao Khan began to drain the vegetation energies of Outworld and turned it into a barren wasteland. From then on, Shao Kahn continued many of the former emperor's plans to conquer all.

Shao is one of Sindel's many champions that participates in the current tournament. Like in previous timelines, Shao seems to have his own conflicts towards both Liu Kang and Earthrealm, mocking Raiden before the tournament and drunkenly disrespecting the Earthrealm champions after losing the tournament.
