There should be something better for upgrade than the money you would have used for Sang, such as Masori pieces or ZCB.

It indeed is more about mechanism than equipment, especially considering the rhytm of the enrage phase, though the thrall was a great help there for me. Toxic Staff of the Dead is out of the question for the lower cast speed.
