Oct 27, 2009 · The S491 is chrome moly and there are no records of actions made in stainless steel. The S491 has a separate recoil lug and a Tikka trigger assembly. The medium length action was the 591, similar to the L479 and All. The long action was the 691, similar to the L61 or Alll. The separate recoil lug is also found on the Sako 75.

The AI weighs 6 lb 11 oz (which is a nice weight) and the s491 weighed 7 lb 11 oz with the .222 barrel, but now weighs 7 lb 10 with the stainless fluted 22 inch 6.8 barrel. When I add a Swarovski 3-9 scope and Sako Optilok ring-mounts, the s491 weighs 8 lb 10 oz. This is relatively heavy for an extra-short action with a 22 inch barrel.

Oct 6, 2024 · Looking to sale or trade my Sako S491 6ppc. Single shot action and what I would consider a Heavy/varmint contour barrel. Picked this rifle up in a trade and had planned to use it as a varmint rifle however this thing is just to nice to take out in the field. I’ve shot exactly 20 rounds out of this rifle with run of the mill advertised load data.

May 26, 2010 · The S491 was the last model before the Sako 75 and would have been made during the 90's. Differences between it and it's predecessor, the A series, include non integeral recoil lug and larger bolt diameter. And of course your particular stock.

May 17, 2015 · Well, I have two Sako 6 PPCs, and one is the single-shot heavy-barrel model (marked "bench") on the box. This one does have the target trigger, and I'm not looking to change out the trigger guard. It's for my 6 PPC sporter (A1 action,with same hole-spacing as the L461) that I'd like to have a second FG/floorplate unit.

Dec 9, 2013 · I have a Sako S491 with a Lothar Walther barrel chambered in .20 PPC. My wood stock came from a 6PPC. The stock looks like a mid-90s vintage and has a flat, medium-dark finish. Does anyone know how to duplicate this finish?? Thank you, Jordan
