President Harry S. Truman signed the National Security Act of 1947, which created the U.S. Air Force, on board Sacred Cow, the Presidential VC-54C which is preserved at the National Museum of the United States Air Force near Dayton, Ohio.

The VC-54C Sacred Cow, which was first used by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the VC-137C Air Force One, Restoration crews at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force moved two presidential aircraft into the museum’s new fourth building on April 9.

Nicknamed the Sacred Cow, this VC-54C became the first military aircraft to transport a U.S. president when President Roosevelt took it to the USSR for the Yalta Conference in February 1945.

Mar 24, 2017 · Three of the four reasons center around a lone C-54, serial No. 42-107451, which was heavily modified to become the personal transport of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and earned the designation VC-54C. This luxurious aircraft was named ‘Sacred Cow’ and became what we now refer to as the very first Air Force One.

Apr 1, 2016 · The VC-54C Sacred Cow, which was first used by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, will also be moved into the fourth building that day. Weather permitting, the moves will begin at approximately 9 a.m. with Sacred Cow being moved first, followed by SAM 26000 around 10 a.m.
