Southwest Texas State's abbreviation, SWT, is most commonly used as a throwback logo. Track runner with the Southwest Texas jersey, 1968. In 2003, the Legislature dropped the regional SW designation and the institution became Texas State University-San Marcos.

Nov 17, 2024 · Gone was the classic SWT logo in favor of the current Supercat Logo. Athletic Gold was now replaced with a more metallic gold. It was an entire identity shift. While some alumni might hold ill-will towards the name change, it was needed for the university.
