Jul 21, 2019 · The three S&W Models 457 weigh in at 29 oz. The S&W Model 4513TSW weighs in at 28.6 oz. The 457S and 4513TSW are going to cost the most. I am thinking the best for the money would be the 457S. I may have to settle for a S&W Model 457. I think I prefer the S&W Model 4513TSW without the rail over the 4513TSW with the rail.

Jun 29, 2019 · The 457 is the compact 45 ACP comparable in size to the 4516 and just a little bigger than the Chief’s Special CS45 sub compact. I have shot the 457 and they are generally good shooters with moderate recoil. The least durable feature were the sights which were usually polymer on the value series like the 908, 909, 910/915, 410 and 457.

Sep 21, 2009 · The safety/decocker is on the left side. I'm not sure if the S&W ambi safety would fit the 457's slightly wide slide, but I never inquired. I'm a lefty, so I only used the safety/decocker as a decocker, and carried the 457 off safe. I mostly carried it off duty. It was much lighter than my 4516-3, and just as accurate and reliable.

It has sat in the safe for at least 20:years and I have lost my holster I used for the gun. Now, I am about to send my other 45 in for a redo and would like to carry the old 457 for a bit.

Feb 5, 2021 · The 457 has a catch, catch nut and a tornado type spring. Any reason why a mag catch, mag catch nut, mag catch plunger and mag catch spring for a 4576 wouldn't work? Both are 3rd generation. The 4576 having a steel frame vs the alloy 457 frame. I can't believe the up graded LEO 457's had special made mag catches.

Aug 4, 2023 · The plastic magazine catch is a weak point on the otherwise great Model 457 semi auto in .45 ACP. I have read about a conversion using the steel magazine catch from a 4516. Can anybody provide any deatils on how this conversion is achived and whether it works.

Jun 8, 2012 · Magazines for the 457, 4566, 4506, 4556, etc will all fit the 4516-1. I have a 4516-1 and bought several from Brownell's and they work as good as any.
