Oct 21, 2024 · The Gen 3 (in the US) was sold as a SV650 L7 (non ABS) or a SV650A L7 with ABS (this was the 2016/7 model). The "L" suffix number incremented as the years progressed. I don't know whether it went beyond the L9. As previously mentioned the SV650X is (was?) a Gen 3 dressed up with cafe racer styling and different paint.

Jul 29, 2013 · Thanks all for the info. Based on previous posts, I bought new tensioners for the 03 model SV650. These were supposed to be an improvement over the gen 1 OEM tensioners. But now that I have them in my hand, I am beginning to doubt they will fit\work. They have a ratchet mechanism that confuses me as to it's purpose.
