Drillwell Ltd have designed and manufactured a circular section Drill Rod for special applications, they are ideal for use in Standard Penetration Testing Operations. Our newly designed circular Rod fulfills the requirements of British Standards BS 1377: Part: 1990.

Standard Penetration Test (SPT) is a simple and low-cost testing procedure widely used in geotechnical investigation to determine the relative density and angle of shearing resistance of cohesionless soils and also the strength of stiff cohesive soils.

Standard Penetration Test (SPT) equipment consisting of Automatic Trip Hammer, Drive Rods and various types of Split Tube Samplers. SPT Drive Rod is manufactured to connect with the SPT Split Tube Sampler and comply with the BS 1377: Part 9: 1990.

SPT split spoon samplers, CPT cones and drive rods. Manufactured to BS EN ISO 22476-3, consisting of top adaptor, pair of split spoons and cutting shoe. The top adaptor contains a ball valve held in place by a threaded brass bush. The standard thread connection on the top is 11/2″ BSW or BW rod but any other thread can be incorporated.

A purpose-manufactured drive rod is available for SPT sampler. The rod is manufactured from a thin, but high tensile, tubular section 54 mm O.D. with solid 11/2″ BSW male and female tool joints shrink welded to each end.

The sounding rods are used during Dynamic Penetration Testing (DPT) and Standard Penetration Testing (SPT) to hammer the sounding tips into the ground by means of a dynamic penetrometer rig. Gouda-Geo DPT and SPT sounding rods meet the highest quality standards.
